Makedo And Mend Workshop
Part of our Smith-Appleby workshop series.
Step back in time and make an 18th century sewing wallet of “hussif”, aptly known as a “housewife”. An important item in any soldier’s kit, sailor’s duffle, or a woman’s basket, this rolled up cloth sewing kit had pockets for carrying needles and thread, scissors, buttons, and anything else needed for a sewing emergency.
The workshop will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. at the Smith-Appleby House Museum.
Cost is $25 per person, and includes all materials needed to have your own well-made hussif, light refreshments, and a tour of the Smith-Appleby Museum.
The class will be limited to ten participants, and all participants must be sixteen or older.
