This poem about the “Dorr War”, or “Dorr Rebellion”, appeared in the now defunct newspaper, The Guard, on September 13, 1842. The Guard was published in Holly Springs, Mississippi. The author was Jesse E. Dow, a poet and politician, who died in Washington, D. C. on October 23, 1850. The poem is offered here as a little-known item relating to Rhode Island history.
