Bridge Lottery – 1826

     In 1826, Central Falls was part of the Town of Smithfield.  The term “Free bridge” meant that there would be no toll to cross it.  “Shaw’s Truly Lucky Office” was operated by J. C. Shaw in Newport, R. I.
